Ripley’s Flowers and The Dog Spot
Our boxer/bulldog cross, is the most wonderfully gentle, cuddly and hilariously goofy dogs I’ve ever had the honor of sharing my life with. Three years ago, through some pretty amazing people, he found his way to us in Canada from The Dog Spot rescue in California. It would be an understatement to say he’s changed my life with his love and loyalty.
Ripley was a part of an extreme hoarding case in Bakersfield California. He was one of 165 dogs rescued who, over time, all found homes through the hard work, dedication and kindness of Dog Spot and several other organizations.
We named him after the character Ellen Ripley. The against all odds survivor of the Alien movies franchise. A blatant nod to my fondness for the franchise as well as our recognition of all that Ripley had been through and the love, trust and devotion he still has despite the adversity of his earlier years.
Because of furry family members like this guy, I have a soft spot in my heart for organizations that dedicated their lives to the incredibly difficult yet rewarding work of rescuing animals. And I’m especially fond of this particular organization because they are responsible for bringing us our wonderful & bouncy roo.
